MORNING BY MORNING
Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice; In the morning I will direct my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Psalm 5:3
Mornings can be tough. We often wake up with groggy minds and heavy hearts, thinking about the day ahead and all the responsibilities and challenges that await us. But there is something special about approaching God in the morning. When we start our day with prayer and focus our minds on Him, we can experience a sense of peace and clarity that helps us navigate the busyness and stress of life.
In Psalm 5:3, David expresses his commitment to seeking God in the morning. He knows that the early hours are a prime time to connect with the Lord and receive guidance for the day ahead. He directs his prayer to God and eagerly watches, anticipating His response. As we follow David’s example, we can cultivate a habit of seeking God in the morning. We can take time to pray, read the Bible, and listen for His voice. This doesn’t have to be a long or elaborate routine; even a few minutes of focused time with God can make a big difference.
When we start our day with God, we are reminded of His love and faithfulness. We can release our worries and concerns to Him, trusting that He is in control. We can ask for His wisdom and guidance as we make decisions and interact with others. And we can receive His peace and strength to face whatever comes our way. Approaching God in the morning also helps us prioritize our relationship with Him. When we put Him first, we set the tone for our day and remind ourselves that He is the source of our identity, purpose, and hope. We invite Him to be present with us throughout the day and to help us see the world through His eyes.
As we wake up each morning, let’s take a moment to direct our prayers to God. Let’s invite Him to be a part of our day and to guide us in all that we do. Then, eagerly watch for His response, knowing that He hears our voice and delights in our seeking Him.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the gift of a new day. Help me to approach You in the morning with a fresh mind and spirit. Guide me as I seek Your wisdom and direction for the day ahead. Fill me with Your peace and strength to face whatever comes my way. Help me to prioritize my relationship with You and to invite You to be present with me throughout the day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
